In 1525, two momentous events took place involving two people groups from opposite ends of the globe. In Switzerland, the leaders of my people decided to leave a false, dead religion and follow God according to the Bible. This decision started the Anabaptist movement, passing down the Word of God to following generations in tangible expressions of faith.
In Indonesia, the leaders of Sungai,* a people group of about a quarter of a million people, mostly farmers and fishermen, decided to transition from the dead religion of Hinduism to the dead religion of Islam. Islam gained a strong foothold among the Sungai people that persists to this day.
Now 493 years later, God is working to bring these two people groups together. God is using a group from the Anabaptist people to bring His Kingdom to the Sungai. We are hoping to translate God's Word into the heart language of the Sungai. Just as God used the Bible among our people, we long to see Him use His Word to establish a group of Christ followers among the Sungai.
Two families have just finished the last phase of training at the ABT base. Here are some of the steps our team has taken in preparation, and several steps we plan to take in the next few years to bring His Word to the Sungai.

Steps to take:
We see this venture as a joint effort of many of God’s children. We cannot do this by ourselves. Many in our home churches are involved in logistical and prayer support. We hope that others will gain a vision to pray with us for God's Kingdom to come and His will to be done among the Sungai people, just as it is in Heaven.
