Exploring Community Development

Community development facilitators serve a crucial role on All-Nations teams. They serve the community by teaching its members to develop and use their skills and resources, and not to depend on what we do and bring.

In April, we plan to participate in a networking conference at the All-Nations base. Representatives of various organizations will share from their experience in community development. We anticipate a time of learning and brainstorming as we process ideas gleaned through this forum. Following are a few of the participants:

Stan Doerr first moved overseas in 1981. He has served in leadership with ECHO, an agricultural community development organization. Recently Stan spent two months in East Africa training farmers to use drip irrigation to mitigate unreliable rains.

Ray Norman has worked for years with World Vision and presently leads their WASH program (clean water and hygiene). Ray’s book Dangerous Love tells the journey of forgiveness and healing when he and his daughter were shot while serving in Mauritania.

Clyde Zimmerman serves with SALT savings groups and on All-Nations’ advisory council. He has provided invaluable assistance to several All-Nations projects.
