The *Ahsatdah* Project in the Amazon Region

As a result of research and exploration in Colombia during 2017-2021, God led this team to the jungles in the far south, and eventually to a people group with several jungle villages. Reaching the village from the regional town requires plane and boat travel—or extended hiking if the river lacks sufficient water for boating.

The Ahsatdah believe the jungles around them are inhabited by malignant spirits who lure people into their clutches and devour them. They also believe that certain men called shamans are able to communicate with the spirits and have the power to heal or curse.

Some Christian work has been done among these people’s relatives across the country border, but in Colombia there are no known believers. Only two short Old Testament books have been translated into their language.

A church in Indiana has sent a family to the Ahsatdah. Since 2022, they have spent some time living in the village, building relationships and learning culture and language.
