Why, really, could it be worth risking your neck to get the Scriptures translated into an obscure language, just one out of over 7,000 spoken today? Is there even sufficient cause to give one’s life to such work?

Aaron Shryock, of the Tyndale Center for Bible Translation, is passionate about raising awareness of the tremendous needs in Bible translation. But in an article published last month, he shows that the need is not the greatest motivation for Bible translation.

What is the truer reason?
