Planting an Indigenous Church

What it’s all about

Recently, we’ve  featured various aspects of an All-Nations project. These are not merely a variety of activities a team engages in. They are purposeful steps toward a single goal: a local church of mother-tongue speakers following Jesus together.

Training

By working hard to prepare, we begin to glimpse how much we must learn in order to fill the diverse functions of a church planting team among an unreached people group.

Entering a Community

What makes entering difficult communities in a humble way worth the hard work? Our vision is to someday leave behind a maturing assembly of believers who follow Jesus together. This is why Jesus came the way He did, and it is what He died for.

Culture and Language Acquisition

By prioritizing CLA for the first years, team members can become truly proficient in the language. The people open up to them in ways unavailable to other outsiders. This enables deeper cultural understanding, enabling teams  to anticipate cultural hindrances to the gospel and identify areas of potential misunderstanding.

Community Development

God designed that people live in harmony, not only with Himself, but with others and the created world. Teams bring recognizable value as they help communities address areas of brokenness and poverty, revealing Jesus as the One who brings peace.

Literacy Ministry

God gave His Word in written form. The ability to read with comprehension and connect what we read to our lives is crucial for a growing church.

Bible Translation

Our purpose in  translating the Scriptures goes beyond merely getting a Bible into people’s hands. It is about making the message accessible so they can follow Jesus in their own setting and take the message to others. As we work alongside them in the process, we see the message impacting their lives.

Chronological Bible Teaching

When people unfamiliar with the Scriptures are taught the story of the world from its beginning, the foundation is laid for them to wholeheartedly turn to Jesus, who fulfills Old Testament longings and answers the ultimate needs of this sin-cursed world.

By teaching the Scriptures and training indigenous leaders, teams aim to establish churches grounded and steadfast in their faith while becoming sustainable, reproducible models of God’s kingdom.
