The Aatika are a small language group of about 2,000 people living in the remote communities of Colombia. Access to God’s Word and discipleship is very limited. Reaching their villages requires flying by small plane to a remote village and then traveling several days by boat.
Through God’s leading, All-Nations members established contact with Y*, an important Aatika leader, as well as the leader of Y’s home village. These relationships have opened the door for future ministry.
In March 2023, the WG family moved to Leticia to study Spanish and prepare for long-term ministry in the Amazon. They have made several trips to Y’s village, where they have served local people through small-engine maintenance training and repair for river boats. Although they have not yet relocated to an Aatika village, they continue building relationships and seeking opportunities.
Some translation work has already been completed by a SIL couple. Several New Testament books in a closely related language may also help future translation efforts.
All-Nations Bible Translation is working to establish a long-term Bible translation project among the Aatika people. We are praying for qualified Bible translation personnel who are willing to serve, learn the language, and work alongside the Aatika community so they can receive God’s Word in the language they understand best.
