What We Did at Shippensburg

This week we got to spend time with a congregation just two hours from here in Pennsylvania. They are preparing to send the Hege family to join the Wagoner family on the Mixtec project in Guerrero, Mexico.

Joe Root, our advisor from Mexico, was able to join us for this sending church encounter. Wednesday evening, Brother Joe encouraged the congregation with a vision for Mexico, a report of God’s work there, and a challenge to do well at sending.

Thursday morning, we sat with the Hege’s support team and church leaders to discuss a number of things related to their sending.

Because our mission revolves around partnering with churches to send teams, we place a priority on these sending church encounters. Here are some of our goals for these meetings.

Goals of the Congregational meeting:

  • To inspire a congregational vision for the [Mixtec] project.
  • To encourage a congregational commitment to serve as senders effectively.
  • To familiarize the congregation with All-Nations and a few of its representatives.

Goals of the Senders meeting:

  • To lay the foundation for a partnership between All-Nations and [the sending church]
  • To understand All-Nations’ vision, goals, and mode of operation
  • To consider some challenges and methods of indigenous church planting
  • To clarify the respective roles of All-Nations and the support team
